2nd ODI: New Zealand eye series win against England

Southampton: New Zealand are one win away from an ODI series triumph against England when they take the field in the second match here on Sunday. The Black Caps went into the series as rank outsiders but surprised the hosts with a five-wicket win in the first ODI on Friday.

The New Zealand bowlers, led by Tim Southee, continued their good work from the Test series, combining well to restrict the hosts to a modest total of 227 for 9. New Zealand's batsmen, who were terrible in their Test series whitewash, finally showed some spine - especially Martin Guptill, whose unbeaten 103 made it an easy chase for the visitors.

Injury concerns continue to haunt the English team with Stuart Broad and Steven Finn again unlikely to feature due to injury. Warwickshire pacer Boyd Rankin has been called up as cover for the injured duo.

When all is said and done, it has to be said that this a great chance for New Zealand to get some boost ahead of the eight-team Champions Trophy. Of late their performance has been way off the mark and they can change it all on Sunday.
