2nd ODI: WI beat NZ by 55 runs; take 2-0 lead

Kingston: New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss Saturday and chose to bowl first against the West Indies in the second one-day cricket international at Sabina Park.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels cracked their 20th and 3rd ODI hundreds as West Indies reached 315 for 5 in 50 overs.

Gayle smashed 8 boundaries and 9 sixes, which include 3 sixes in an over of Kyle Mills.

West indies captain Darren Sammy hit breezy 31 off 21 balls towards the end of the innings. Though, West Indies could not score as many runs as they would have liked in last 10 overs.

Williamson, Martin Guptill BJ Watling hammered half-centuries for New Zealand but they were not enough to take their team home as none of them converted their innings into a massive one.

Ravi Ranpaul was the pick of the bowler for West Indies as he ripped out 3 wickets. Sunil Narine and Samuels picked up 2 wickets each.

The West Indies are unchanged from the side that won the rain-shortened opening match by nine wickets at the same venue on Thursday.

New Zealand made two changes to its eleven with off-spinner Nathan McCullum and batsman Tom Latham replacing Dean Brownlie and the injured all-rounder Andrew Ellis.

West Indies lead the series 2-0; the third ODI will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts on 11th July.
