Modi: why didn't the Prime Minister vote?

Ahemdabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has a knack to embarrass the Congress. This time he took a jibe at the Prime Minister on the Occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti for being absent from Assam on polling day.

Narendra Modi said, "Ambedkar gave us our constitution and on his birth anniversary, I have to say this with great regret that PM Manmohan singh, who is a registered voter from Assam has not cast his vote in the Assam assembly elections this time."

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam and both he and his wife Gursharan Kaur are registered voters in the Dispur constituency that went to polls on Monday. The Congress made efforts to explain the absence of the PM and his wife.

"The Prime Minister's contribution to nation building should be seen holistically. He has worked extensively for the development of Assam. The BJP and the CM of Gujarat should look for more substantive issues," said Manish Tewari.

The voters in Assam are, however, feeling let down by the absence of the most famous voter.

The verdict for Assam will be declared on May 13th and the Congress is hopeful that the people will choose developmental work done by the party over this faux pas.
