Black money: SC seeks action against Lilavati

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notices on a petition seeking investigation into alleged money laundering by the trustees of Mumbai's Lilavati hospital.

The apex court has issued notices to CBI, ED, SEBI and Central Government on a petition seeking criminal proceedings against the trustees of Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.

According to the petition, they are involved in money laundering and siphoning black money through the accounts of the hospital. The petition sought criminal case against the five trustees.

CNN-IBN had first reported on the black money trail leading from Lilavati Hospital trustees to Mauritius.

Meanwhile, the Lilavati money laundering case has been tagged along with the Hasan Ali case. The same bench will hear both the cases at the same time.

Investigators are also looking at another connection - a connection between 2G and the Lilavati promoters.

The first point of suspicion was the address.

Les Cascades building, Edith Cavell Street, Port Louis, Mauritius has emerged as the common address for at least 10 offshore companies, which are part of Indian telecom companies linked to the 2G Spectrum scam.

Now, a CNN-IBN investigation revealed that Les Cascades building is also the address of the front companies of the four permanent trustees of Mumbai's famous Lilavati Hospital.
