    Commentary (Bangladesh innings)

We witnessed some scintillating cricket today and it was a high voltage match. Do join us for the 2nd ODI at 1400 IST scheduled to be played at the same venue on 9th October. Till then, goodbye and take care!

MAN OF THE MATCH, JAKE BALL says that he was just thinking of running in and hitting the deck hard at that stage. On the overall bowling in this innings, he feels that change of pace was the key. On the transition from county cricket to international cricket, he admits that it is a huge difference and the conditions were really tough. He says that they never gave hope even at 271/4 and felt that if they could take a couple of wickets, they could spring a collapse.

England captain, JOS BUTTLER feels that it's been a fantastic game. Stokes pulled everyone together and batted brilliantly. Adds that Jake Ball was superb on his debut. Adds that he was put under pressure by the home side but he responded really well and deserved the fifer. (On Ben Duckett) Says that he didn't look like he was on his debut. He was looking like a seasoned pro out there. (On him dropping Kayes) Says that it was a very easy catch and he didn't know how he dropped that!

Bangladesh captain, MASHRAFE MORTAZA says that it could have been an easy game to win but they made it difficult for themselves by losing wickets in clusters. Feels that it was a nice wicket to bat upon and praises Kayes and Shakib for their batting. Laments the dropped catches and admits a target under 300 could have been achievable. Feels happy for Kayes for his back-to-back hundreds (He hit one in the warm-up game). Does not feel there was enough dew to trouble the bowlers.

Earlier, England batted brilliantly to score 309 riding on Stokes' ton with half centuries from Duckett and Buttler. It was always going to be a tricky chase for the home side. Kayes batted brilliantly to begin with but he lost his touch as he started cramping up. He scored a century but it was not enough as the home side eventually crumbled under pressure and handed England a victory. Even Shakib suffered cramps and that had a toll on the match.

What a match and England have pulled off a victory from the jaws of defeat! At one moment, when Kayes and Shakib were out in the middle they looked comfortable and were on track but as Shakib fell to Jake Ball, the match turned on its head and the home side fell like a pack of cards. Ball and Rashid bowled brilliantly and scalped five and four wickets respectively. Jakes Ball was the star of the show as he became the first English bowler to take a fifer on his ODI debut.

47.5 J Ball to T Ahmed, OUT! ENGLAND WIN BY 21 RUNS!! Third time lucky for Ball and he becomes the FIRST ENGLISH PLAYER TO TAKE A 5-FER ON ODI DEBUT! A length ball outside off, Taskin has another heave and this time, the ball takes the outside edge. It dips on its way to Buttler but he dives forward and takes a good catch. What a comeback! 288/10

45.2 J Ball to M Hossain, OUT! RUN OUT! Oh dear... poor cricket from Shafiul. Mosharraf goes for a big one but mistimes it to mid off. Shafiul is in his own world and wants a single but is obviously sent back. Adil Rashid fields, has a shy at the bowler's end and hits. England appeal, it is referred upstairs and replays confirm the worst. 280/9

DIRECT HIT! Referred upstairs. Is Shafiul in trouble?

Kayes had already come down the pitch and he tries to readjust at the last moment but isn't able to reach the ball and Buttler flicks the bails in a jiffy. The match is getting more and more interesting. 280/8

43.6 J Ball to M Hossain, NOT OUT! Pitched around leg stump, Hossain plays down the wrong line as he misses the flick and is rapped low on the pads. There is an appeal from the English side but the umpire is not interested. England take a review and the LBW decision is referred upstairs. The replays clearly show that the ball clearly pitched outside leg. May be England took a review to give a bit of rest to the bowlers. 279/7

Interesting. ENGLAND HAVE ASKED FOR A REVIEW! This is against Mosharraf for an LBW. Looks to be a bit more desperate.

43.1 J Ball to I Kayes, Wide. It's too wide outside the off stump, Kayes has an easy leave. 275/7

One of the balls seem to have gone out of shape. The umpire comes out with a box of balls. And they change one. Jake Ball is bowling with the same one which he was bowling with. The replaced ball will be used at the other end.

42.6 A Rashid to M Hossain, The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground. 274/7

MOSHARRAF HOSSAIN walks in at number 9, replacing Mortaza.

42.5 A Rashid to M Mortaza, OUT! The match is turning on its head! A bit flatter outside off, turning away. Mortaza looks to run it down to third man but gets a faint edge and Buttler collects a good catch behind the stumps. 3 wickets for 3 runs in 9 balls. 274/7

41.4 J Ball to M Hossain, OUT! 2 wickets in 2 balls! England are right back in the hunt! On a length angling into Mosaddek. He waits for it and looks to glide it down to third man but the extra bounce on that one deceives him and chops it back onto his stumps. 271/6

Mosaddek Hossain is the new man in.

41.3 J Ball to Al Hasan, OUT! Shakib departs! Could it prove out to be a turning point in the match? Shortish delivery again directed at the body, Shakib swivels across and mistimes his pull towards Willey at mid-wicket who bends to his left and completes a good catch. 271/5

39.2 J Ball to I Kayes, WAS THAT A DROP? The England players look a bit disappointed out there. Dug in short from around the wicket, Kayes goes for the pull but seems to have got a bit of nick on that and Buttler is not able to collect it. There seemed to be a definite sound on that one. The Snickometer showed that there was a slight deflection on that one. Kayes is still lucky to be out there. 253/4
