    As it happened: Sri Lanka v Bangladesh, 2nd Test, Day 1

    Live updates from day one of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

    Sri Lanka innings:

    End stumps: Sri Lanka 18 for 1 After losing Tillakratne Dilshan for a duck, Dimuth Karunaratne and Kumar Sangakkara made sure that Sri Lanka didn't lose anymore wicket on day one. Sri Lanka still trail by 222 runs with 9 wickets remaining in the 1st innings.

    End of over 1: 7 for 1 Out! Fantastic start by Bangladesh, picks up Dilshan off the third ball for a duck. Dilshan throws his bat at a short and wide delivery outside off stump and with it throws his wicket away as well as the faint outside edge goes straight into the hands of the keeper.

    Eng of innings: All Out! Herath picks up his fifth wicket as he traps Nasir Hossain in front of wickets for 48. Sri Lanka have done well to restrict Bangladesh to 240.

    End of over 81: 232 for 9: Out! Double blow for the visitors in an over. Abul Hasan was the first on to go as he gives away simple catch to second slip. Next to follow him Rubel Hossain who gives away straightforward catch to Herath at short mid on.

    End of over 77: 222 for 7: Out! Finally Sri Lanka break Sohag's resistance as Herath gets his fourth. Sohag steps down the wicket and is completely outfoxed by Herath and is stumped by Chandimal.

    End of over 76: 219 for 6: Sohag Gazi gets two quick boundaries as he reaches his highest score. Meanwhile, he along with Nasir Hossain have brought up fifty runs stand between them.

    End of over 73: 204 for 6: 200 hundred up for Bangladesh. Sensible batting by both Nasir Hossain and Sohag Gazi. They are taking no risk at all and have added 41 for this wicket.

    End of over 69: 190 for 6: Slowly but surely Nasir Hossain and Sohag Gazi are building a partnership. The duo have added 27 from 77 balls till now. Entertainment wise this has been a dull day.

    End of over 65: 181 for 6: Nasir Hossain and Sohag Gazi are trying their best to get Bangladesh innings back on track. The duo are rotating the strike well and are playing the ball according to the merit.

    End of over 61: 172 for 6: Rangana Herath bowls another tight over. Bangladeshi batsmen have no clue how to play him at the moment. He surely will be eying five wicket haul today.

    End of over 57: 163 for 6: Out! Herath gets his third, he is on a roll here. this time an important wicket of well settled Mominul. Mominul stretches forward to defend away from the body, gets a faint nick on that and easily held by the keeper.

    End of over 55: 155 for 5: Out! Herath gets his second as he clean bowls Rahim. Rahim hangs back and looks to defend, leaves a big gap between bat and pad, the ball sneaks through and disturbs the timber. Bangladesh are losing wickets at regular interval now. Sri Lanka right on top now. It's tea as well.

    End of over 53: 148 for 4: Mominul Haque brings up a well deserved fifty. He has looked solid from the word go. Mushfiqur Rahim is on 7. Haque will be hoping that he does not run out of partners as he surely will be aiming for a big one.

    End of over 49: 132 for 4: Out! Rangana Herath finally gets a well deserved wicket. He sends back Mahmudullah, who goes hard at the drive, gets an edge which pops off the keeper's pad, Angelo Mathews takes diving catch at the first slip.

    End of over 48: 128 for 3: Mominul and Mahmudullah are slowly but surely building a partnership here. Though boundaries are not easy to come by but duo are rotating the strike well. Mominul Haque is now just four short of his fifty.

    End of over 44: 113 for 3: Sri Lankan bowlers have again slowed down Bangladesh run-rate. Rangana Herath has given just six off his nine overs and is giving nothing away. Mominul Haque is on 36 while Mahmudullah is on 3.

    End of over 40: 102 for 3: Out! Wicket at the right time for Sri Lanka as Eranga breaks 49-run stand between Mominul Haque and Jahurul Islam. Islam resistance comes to an end when he gives a regulation catch to Chandimal behind the stumps.

    End of over 35: 89 for 2: Good over from Bangladesh's point of view. Mominul smashes Kulasekara to long on fence for four and follows it up with three. Two leg-byes in the fifth and couple to Jahurul Islam on the last ball made it eleven from the over.

    End of over 32: 73 for 2: Jahurul Islam and Mominul Haque look comfortable in the middle after lunch. Outfield is quite heavy and they are dealing in singles and doubles at the moment. There was one close LBW call in the over but umpire said not out. It was 50-50.

    End of over 28: 62 for 2: Suranga Lakmal starts the proceedings for Sri Lanka after lunch. Neat and tidy over first up -- a maiden.

    End of over 27: 62 for 2: Players go in for lunch. Sri Lanka will be satisfied with the first session, kept Bangladeshi batsmen at bay and picked up two important wickets. Jahurul Islam (22) and Mominul Haque (3) are at crease.

    End of over 24: 51 for 2: Out! Poor running from Ashraful. Islam turns it to short mid wicket, a direct hit at the striker's end, but Ashraful was slow in reaching the crease. Great work by Eranga on the field. Mominul Haque comes walks into bat.

    End of over 22: 46 for 1: Good over by Eranga, unlucky not to get a wicket as he bowls a full length delivery outside off, Islam gets forward to drive and edges it but just short of the second slip fielder.

    End of over 18: 42 for 1: Finally some runs for Bangladesh. Two back-to-back boundaries for Ashraful. First one through the covers and second one he glides it to the third man region. Eleven runs came from Eranga's over.

    End of over 14: 31 for 1: Shaminda Eranga bowls another decent over. It has been a very slow morning as Bangladeshi batsmen have still not scored a boundary. Drinks on the field now.

    End of over 11: 27 for 1: It has been excellent stuff by Sri Lankan bowlers till now. Haven't conceded a single boundary yet. Kulasekara has impressed with his line and length. Ashraful is on 4 while Islam is on 11.

    End of over 7: 16 for 1: OUT! Nuwan Kulasekara gets first breakthrough as he traps Tamim Iqbal in front of wickets. Lankan bowlers build the pressure and finally Kulasekara has been rewarded with the wicket. Still no boundaries for Bangladesh. Mohammad Ashraful walks into bat.

    End of over 4: 6 for 0: Nuwan Kulasekara and Suranga Lakmal are keeping it nice and tight and are not giving anything away early in the innings. Jahurul Islam is still waiting to get off the mark while Iqbal has six to his name.

    End of over 1: 1 for 0: Tamim Iqbal and Jahurul Islam open the innings for Bangladesh. Nuwan Kulasekara starts the proceedings for Sri Lanka. Iqbal is off the mark as he clips second ball for a single towards backward square leg.
