And it was all made possible by spinner Shadab Khan, who got rid of Joe Root in the 28th over of the innings, which started a domino effect. None of the other batsmen could do much as Pakistan bowlers ran through their batting order.
Coming into this match, Root had scores of 133* (vs Bangladesh), 64 (vs New Zealand) and 15 (vs Australia) in England three group stage matches. And he was at it once again and started really well in this innings against Pakistan.
With him at the crease, England were staring at a big total but Shadab changed all that by getting rid of him for 46. The right-hander tried to cut a wide delivery outside the off-stump but the ball took a thick outside edge and wicket-keeper Sarfraz did the rest.
After his dismissal, none of the English batsmen could apply themselves and the line-up folded like a pack of cards. From 127/2, England were all-out for 211. And it was all made possible after Shadab got the prize wicket of England's main man in the middle overs of the innings.
