New Delhi: Virat Kohli might have been vociferous in his praise of Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha after their record 199-run stand in the third Test in Ranchi — even terming it as the "best" partnership he has ever seen — but Pujara being the gentleman that he is, took time out to thank fans for all the love and affection.
Pujara’s double ton and 199-run stand with Saha was integral in handing Team India an opportunity to chase victory in the third Test. Even though Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh denied the hosts victory, pundits and teammates have all commended Pujara for playing a gritty knock on a difficult wicket.
Pujara took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to thank the fans for their continuous show of love and support. His post read: “Thank you all for your love and wishes on the double ton. Gives me so much joy to make my country proud.”

India’s ‘true blue’ Test batsman has been in the form of his life in the ongoing home season, amassing over 1900 runs in 16 games with a highest score of 256*.
But this has come close on the heels of a tough phase in his career when Virat Kohli had just taken over as Test skipper and Pujara wasn’t seen fitting into an ‘aggressive’ captain’s scheme of things. Yet, the teamman that Pujara is, he changed his style of batting to suit the need of the team.
