Clarke termed Watson a 'cancer' on the team, claims Mickey Arthur

In a series of sensational claims that has sent shockwaves through the Australian camp, team's former coach Mickey Arthur has revealed that Michael Clarke termed team-mate Shane Watson as a "cancer" on the team.

Arthur, who was sacked as Australia coach 16 days prior to The Ashes, on Tuesday sued Cricket Australia for $3.6 million US dollar on various charges - one of those been that he was racially discriminated by the governing body for being a South African.

Arthur claimed that he was the "meat in the sandwich" in the feud between Clarke and Watson, who was team's vice-captain until the 32-year-old stepped down in April, according to a statement of claim lodged in a Melbourne court.

Arthur also claimed it was Watson who told him about David Warner's bar-room fight with young England batsman Joe Root that resulted in the Australian batsman being suspended.

The revelations could affect Australia's preparations for the second Ashes Test, scheduled to begin at Lord's on Thursday.
