New Delhi: After the Election Commission shut the Salman Khurshid Muslim quota promise chapter, Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma has also made a similar promise.
At a public rally in Farrukhabad, the Congress leader said, "Muslims will be given more facilities, Muslims will be given reservation."
Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh was also present at the meeting.
Sources in the EC have told CNN-IBN that they will get a tape of Beni Prasad's speech and look into the matter.
Meanwhile, Digvijaya Singh defended Salman Khurshid over his quota promise.
The Election Commission had on Wednesday put a lid on the standoff with Law and Minorities Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid after he expressed regrets over his "defiance" of the poll body over his remarks on sub-quota for minorities in government jobs in Uttar Pradesh.
The Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi and two Election Commissioners VS Sampath and HS Brahma, met and reviewed the matter in the light of the "regret" letter received from Khurshid and decided not to pursue the matter against him any further in the light of his "clear change of position".
