KHAMMAM: A sub-inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force, PN Ramesh (32), who was working at the heavy water plant at Ashwapur, was allegedly killed by his subordinate, P. Nithin Kumar (28), a constable, on Saturday midnight.
According to sources, Nithin Kumar, who was on sentry duty, went to the room where the SI and six others were sleeping, and hit the SI on his head with his rifle butt. The sleeping constables woke up and rushed the injured SI to the Gowthaminagar hospital, a short distance away from the plant, but he succumbed to the injuries.
The Ashwarao police took Nithin into custody who is said to have confessed to the crime and alleged that the he had been harassed by the SI in the allocation of duties and sanction of leaves.
Manuguru circle inspector P. Buchaiah said differences between the SI and the constable over departmental matters might have led Nithin to kill Ramesh. A case was registered and investigation taken up, he added.
It is said that Nithin bore a grudge against Ramesh for a long time. In the past, when the duo were working at Baroda in Gujarat, Nithin was transferred to another section for a brief period on a complaint lodged by the SI. Nithin then planned to murder him.
Ramesh hailed from Ernakulam in Kerala and Nithin is from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
