    Sri Lanka innings

50th over: Australia win by 15 runs! Great win for them. Go 1-0 up in the best-of-three finals. Warner bags the Man-of-the-Match award for a brilliant 163, his maiden ton.

The Lankans gave Australia a big scare who looked certain to win the match at one time. Thanks to Kulasekara's 73 off 43 balls. Let's take at look at the last wicket that brought the Aussies the victory. Lasith Maliga goes for a big swipe off Watson on the leg side but finds Hussey at deep square leg.

    Malinga c MEK Hussey b Watson 1 (10)

48th over: Herath out. Goes for a big shot but finds Xavier Doherty at long-on. Watson strikes for Australia. Sri Lanka 302 for nine. Need another twenty. Great over by Watson!

    Herath c Doherty b Watson 5 (5)

47th over: Gosh! Dhammika Prasad swats Lee for a six over covers. Unbelievable! It's the longest part of the ground. The ball travelled 85 yards. Eye-widening stuff. The match is on. All eyes are back on the D/L method. Sri Lanka 299 for eight. One behind as per the D/L method.

46th over: Tharanga out. Big wicket for Australia. Goes for a big hit off Watson but finds David Hussey at long on. It's drizzling out there and with this wicket the Aussies gain the advantage as per the Duckworth and Lewis method.

    Tharanga c DJ Hussey b Watson 60 (67)

45th over: 15 runs from the over. Sri Lanka 279 for seven in pursuit of 279.

44th over: Tharanga completes his fifty. Sri Lanka 265 for seven. Need another 57 to win. It's going down to the wire.

42nd over: Kulasekara out. After hitting two successive sixes in the over, he finds Xavier Doherty in the covers. David Hussey takes his fourth wicket. Sri Lanka 250 for seven in pursuit of 322.

    Kulasekara c Doherty b DJ Hussey 73 (43)

38th over: Watson drops Kulasekara off the fourth ball, and lo and behold, he hits the next one for a six over deep midwicket. Hilfenhaus is really frustrated. Sri Lanka 205 for six. The Lankans are making the most of the batting powerplay.

35th over: Sri Lanka 162 for six. The required run rate is over 10 now. It looks pretty much over for the Lankans. The batting powerplay comes into effect.

31st over: Maharoof out. Tries to hit David Hussey over mid-wicket but fails to do so as Daniel Christian takes an easy catch. It's Hussey's third scalp today. It's surely the beginning of the end for the Lankan team. Sri Lanka 145 for six.

24th over: Bree Lee bowls a maiden. Excellent bowling from him. Sri Lanka 118 for four in pursuit of 322.

22nd over: Sanga out! Brett Lee strikes for the third time. Sangakkara leaves his crease to hit it over mid-off but his execution was poor and Watson takes an easy catch. Sri Lanka 115 for four. Wicket this, the Lankans' hopes go down a great deal.

    Sangakkara c Watson b Lee 42 (49)

20th over: Sri Lanka 106 for three. Sangakkara is in need of a good partner. Can Thirimanne become one?

17th over: Sri Lanka lose their third wicket. Chandimal out. The first ball from David Hussey does the job. The ball is a bit outside the off stump, tempting Chandimal into a drive but he fails to keep it down and James Pattinson takes an easy catch at point. Sri Lanka 95 for three.

    Chandimal c Pattinson b DJ Hussey 14 (27)

14th over: Sri Lanka 84 for two. Both Sangakkara and Chandimal are looking comfortable out there. The Lankans need this partnership to get going. This probably is their last bet.

11th over: A repeat of Hilfenhaus' appeal against Dilshan! Watson bring back and the ball flicks Sangakkara's pad on its way to Wade. Huge appeal but umpire Paul Reiffel says no. Great job, umpire! Sri Lanka 71 for two.

8th over: Kumar Sangakkara cheers up the Sri Lankan fans by taking 3 successive fours off James Pattinson. Sri Lanka 66 for two.

    Jayawardene c Wade b Lee 14 (14)

4th over: Huge appeal against Dilshan as he takes a swipe off Hilfenhaus. Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf says no. The ball flicked Dilshan's pad on its way to Matthew Wade behind the wicket. Sri Lanka off to a flier. They are 32 for no loss.

1st over Brett Lee opens the proceedings for Australia. Sri Lanka 6 for no loss. Dilshan and Jayawarndene have a big job on their hands. 322 is going to test them not a little.

    Australian innings:

Dhammika Prasad clean bowls Warner in the last ball of the over.

    David Warner b Dhammika 163(157)

47th over: Malinga gets rid of Michael Clarke. Malinga digs in a short one and Clarke goes for the pull but gets a top edge to mid-wicket, where Jayawardene takes a easy catch.

Michael Clarke c Mahela Jayawardene b Malinga 37(25)

David Warner continues to entertain and scores 150.

46th over: Again Maharoof gives away an expensive over. Warner closes in on 150 and Clarke at his attacking best.

37th over: Maharoof now faces the blunt of Warner and Christian. The bowler goes for 12 runs in this over.

35th over: Watson out. Australia 191 for two. Soft dismissal. Tries to hit Maharoof over square leg, does not get it properly and Thirimanne runs forward from square leg to take a dolly.

    Watson c Thirimanne b Maharoof 21 (25)

33rd over: Australia 182 for one. Shane Watson looks quite comfortable out there as David Warner approaches his maiden ton.

28th over: Again rain stops play! It seems rain has eased and covers are coming off and play should start in a while. Australia are 158 for one.

24th over: Matthew Wade falls! Wade tries to clear the long-on boundary but finds Rangana Herath, who leaps in the air and stretches his left hand to take a blinder of a catch.

8:10: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the first final of CB Series between Australia and Sri Lanka at the Gabba in Brisbane on Sunday.

The wicket is hard with bit of grass, but the good sign is that the sun is out. Ian Chappell and Wasim Akram feel there would be swing earlier on and the batsmen need to be watchful.
