Hyderabad chase play-off berth against stirred CSK

Hyderabad: It came as a shocker to many, seeing the mighty Chennai Super Kings falling like a pack of cards against Mumbai Indians, but having qualified for the IPL 6 play-offs the men in yellow would like to go into the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium looking to erase the horrible memories from Sunday.

Chennai have already qualified, but they would want to make things difficult for Sunrisers Hyderabad who are one win away from making it to the final four with seven wins from 11 matches. After winning a low-scoring game against Delhi Daredevils, Hyderabad would look to continue their unbeaten winning streak at home.

Hyderabad's opening woes has been very well documented. Shikhar Dhawan finally coming in has provided that little substance up the order but Parthiv Patel and Akshath Reddy have been disappointments. The West Indian allrounder Darren Sammy who has been an asset in their lineup is coming off a Man-of-the-match performance in the previous game. Big-hitting Thisara Perera has been significant down the order; however, Kumar Sangakkara's form remains a cause of concern.

Their main strength lies in their bowling. Dale Steyn with his viscous pace and swing can cause nightmares for any batsman. Ishant Sharma has been in good form with the ball playing his part and legspinner Amit Mishra has been in sublime form that has earned him a place in India's ICC hampions Trophy squad.

Chennai were disastrous with their batting at the Wankhede. En route to being bundled out for just 79 chasing 140, the batsmen were all over the place playing rash shots and throwing their wickets away. Michael Hussey and Suresh Raina will have to share the bulk of batting responsibilities due to their outstanding run this year.

Hussey top-scored with 22 but he'll surely not be given lifelines against a formidable Hyderabad fielding unit. Murali Vijay is most likely to be excluded provided Wriddhiman Saha recovers from injury.

Their bowlers have, however, been accurate not giving away too many runs. The newly-appointed West Indies skipper Dwayne Bravo holds the Purple cap and will look forward in continuing the good job with the ball. Mohit Sharma has been extremely accurate and a lot will depend on his four overs and Ben Laughlin might well be replaced by allrounder Albie Morkel.

With both teams backing up their main strength, this game may well be billed as Chennai's batting against Hyderabad's bowling.
