New Delhi: After the World T20 heart break last year where Bangladesh lost by a run against India, many thought it would be a set-back for the cricket in the country. They actually snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and had only themselves to blame.

But it wasn’t a set back. The loss perhaps mentally toughened them further and the curve of their performance has only surged upwards in the last year or so. And here they are again infront of the Indians as a hurdle in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy 2017.

The last time they met in an ICC, 50-over tournament it was in the World Cup 2015 where Bangladesh were neck to neck with India for 30 overs but then lost gas.
Some umpiring decisions were blamed but the bottom line was that Bangladesh had lost to India by a massive margin of 109 runs.

How a victory on Thursday would heal those wounds! But facts and figures suggest they would have to play out of their skins to beat India and make it through to the final.
India and Bangladesh have locked horns in 32 ODIs so far out of which Bangladesh have lost 26 and won just 5.

However, Bangladesh will take heart from the fact that they have had a better ODI record against the top-eight sides than India since World Cup 2015.
Both teams have won 11 games each but the Tigers have been defeated just 10 times as compared to India’s 13.

The match will also be a battle between individuals. Both sides have quality players and they would look to get the better of each other, when they meet.
For example, Mustafizur Rahman has a great record against Rohit Sharma. He has dismissed the Indian opener three times in 39 balls for 38 runs. How dearly Rahman would want to do it again!
