New Delhi: Having beaten South Africa in their final group game to qualify for the semi-finals of this year’s Champions Trophy, team India skipper Virat Kohli is in an upbeat mood and has been ensuring that there is a strong sense of bonding between the players. Having played the last game at the Oval and then travelling to Birmingham for the semi-final clash against Bangladesh, Kohli took the opportunity to click a photo with his boys.

Taking to Twitter, Kohli then posted the photo which read: “With the boys yesterday at our stopover from London to Birmingham. 😎”

The frame had Kohli standing with Mohammed Shami, Kedar Jadhav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja.

With the team travelling to Birmingham from London after beating South Africa and booking a place in the semi-final against Bangladesh, Kohli took the opportunity to pose for the photo which shows the spirit in the camp.

Kohli had more reasons to be in a happy zone as the India captain has reclaimed the top batting spot in the latest ICC ODI Player Rankings which were released on Tuesday following the conclusion of the last round of league matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Kohli had entered the tournament 22 points behind number-one ranked AB de Villiers of South Africa (who had been No.1 since 25 February 2017) and 19 points behind Australia’s David Warner. However, following knocks of 81 not out against Pakistan and 76 not out against South Africa, he has leapfrogged de Villiers and Warner into the number-spot.

Kohli, who is ahead of David Warner by just one point, had enjoyed just four days at the top in January 2017, but will now be aiming to do better when he faces Bangladesh in the second semi-final at Edgbaston on Thursday.

The Indian team enjoyed their win against South Africa on Sunday by taking it easy on Monday and Tuesday and the boys are expected to sweat it out on Wednesday as they gear up for the challenge to face Bangladesh in the second semi-final in Birmingham on Thursday.

While India hold the edge against Bangladesh, skipper Kohli has said that the players will not be taking it easy against their Asian rivals. "We played in Birmingham before. We like that pitch. It suits our game," said Kohli after the win over South Africa. "There's no looking back. There's always room for improvement. We can't rest on your laurels.”
