New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced that batsman Rohit Sharma will return to Mumbai for a routine medical check up on Thursday and will join again with the rest of the team in Colombo on Friday.

"The BCCI medical team confirms that batsman Rohit Sharma will undergo a scheduled medical check up, as a follow up after his recent surgery," the BCCI said in a statement.

"There is no health or fitness concern and Rohit Sharma will fly to Mumbai later today (Thursday) i.e. August 3, 2017, and will rejoin the team tomorrow (Friday) i.e. August 4, 2017," the statement added.

Rohit underwent a thigh surgery in London back in November and returned to competitive cricket in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League held in April-May.

Rohit hasn't featured for India in either for the first two Tests against Sri Lanka and in the one-off tour match against Sri Lanka Board President's XI, he had scored 38.
