Port Elizabeth: South African fast bowler Vernon Philander has been ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand starting here on Friday due to recurrence of a hamstring injury. He will be replaced by Rory Kleinveldt, who made his Test debut in Australia recently but was dropped for the third match after two lackluster performances with the ball.Philander was outstanding in the first Test at Cape Town, taking seven wickets to claim the Man-of-the-Match award. He took five wickets in New Zealandâs first innings of 45 in 19.2 overs, but was forced off the field after that startling five-over burst on the first morning due to pain in his left hamstring. In the second innings, Philander bowled 24 overs. The persistent injury had ruled the 27-year-old out of a first-class match two weeks ago but he made the XI for the Cape Town Test after a weekâs recuperation. South Africa will be looking to wrap up the series in Port Elizabeth.
