KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS INNINGS20th over: Kolkata 155 for 3. All over! Mumbai win handsomely by 27 runs to go up to third in the points table.Kallis hit a valiant 79, but the Mumbai bowlers backed up the good work of centurion Rohit Sharma well to keep the in-form KKR batting line-up at bay. Munaf, Ojha, Pollard and Smith took one wicket apiece. Jacques Kallis c Sharma b Smith 79 (60)19th over: Kolkata 145 for 3. When you have Malinga to contend in the penultimate over, there's not much hope for the batsmen. The Sri Lankan concedes just six runs when Kolkata needed 22 an over.18th over: Kolkata 139 for 3. Kalis, at 71 now, is doing his bit here. First he paddles Munaf over fine-leg for a boundary and then hits it straight behind the bowler to end the over with a six. But it's still a tall order for KKR, who now need 44 off the last 12 balls.17th over: Kolkata 124 for 3. Harbhajan has it all covered by packing the on-side, knowing that Yusuf likes to wind up and loft it over the mid-wicket. And with Pollard varying his pace nicely, Kallis isn't finding the middle of his bat.16th over: Kolkata 117 for 3. Just four overs left now and the required run rate is around 17. It seems Mumbai have it under control even with Kallis and Yusuf at the crease, who hit Malinga for two boundaries in that over. 65 needed off 24 balls.15th over: Kolkata 106 for 3. Pollard is bowling pretty smartly against these two big hitters. His change of pace and length is not allowing Kallis and Yusuf to time their shots. Getting difficult now for KKR.14th over: Kolkata 102 for 3. Watching Kallis and Pathan hitting it big, Harbhajan brings his spearhead Malinga back. 81 needed of 36 balls.13th over: Kolkata 95 for 3. Finally, Pathan and Kallis get a hang of Smith and spank him for a couple of boundaries to lift hopes in the KKR dug-out. 87 needed off 42 balls now. Possible?12th over: Kolkata 82 for 3. Kallis and Pathan make a move on. Both deposit Ojha into the stands over his head. If Pathan can strike form here, it will not only bring KKR back in this match but make them doubly dangerous in the playoffs.11th over: Kolkata 67 for 3. Smith is keeping it well and tight for Mumbai. Kallis and Yusuf are not able to read his change of pace and thus no boundaries off him yet.10th over: Kolkata 61 for 3. Tiwary falls! Pollard catches the KKR batsman right in front after he tries to shuffle across to the off side but misses the line to a ball that was angling in. KKR chase going nowhere. 122 needed in the last 10 overs.Manoj Tiwary lbw b Pollard 27 (25)9th over: Kolkata 52 for 2. Harbhajan is off after just one over. Dwayne Smith is bowling now and the West Indian keeps a check on scoring by giving away just three runs in his first over.8th over: Kolkata 49 for 2. Pollard has replaced Ojha at this end, and just like Harbhajan, bowls one bad delivery that Tiwary takes full toll off by depositing it behind the ropes at mid-wicket for a four. 7th over: Kolkata 40 for 2. Harbhajan is into the attack and bowls well until the last ball that Kallis sweeps for a six. The South African is clearly the main hope for KKR here.6th over: Kolkata 32 for 2. End of Powerplay, and KKR clearly on the back foot. However, Tiwary ends it well as he dances down the track to Ojha and clears mid-on to bring up the first boundary of his innings.5th over: Kolkata 23 for 2. Kallis, the technician, brings out a picture-perfect straight drive past the bowler Munaf Patel. Copybook stuff from the world's best allrounder. But Tiwary finding it difficult to hit it off the square.4th over: Kolkata 16 for 2. No respite for Kolkata as Malinga comes into the attack. It's a rebuilding period for KKR, but then a target of 183 doesn't allow too much time to rebuild. 3rd over: Kolkata 12 for 2. Kallis breaks the shackles with two boundaries off Munaf's second over: first a walking pull and then a spanking drive through the covers. Tiwary has joined Kallis in the middle after the fall of Bisla.2nd over: Kolkata 4 for 2. Ojha jolts KKR further by sending Bisla back. The KKR 'keeper tries to sweep it but top-edges it straight to the short fine-leg fielder.Manvinder Bisla c Patel b Ojha 1 (2)1st over: Kolkata 2 for 1. Gambhir departs in first over as Munaf cleans him up. Munaf's move to bowl with wicketeeper standing up to the stumps frustrates Gambhir, who exposes his stumps a bit too much and misses the line while trying to slash hard.Gautam Gambhir b Patel 0 (2)MUMBAI INDIANS INNINGS20th over: Mumbai 182 for 1. Gibbs did the best thing to give Rohit the strike, and the centurion inflicts further damage with an edgy four through his legs that beats the fine-leg easily. Kallis though comes back well to keep the big shots at bay.Rohit Sharma finishes with 109 not out in 60 balls (12 fours, 5 sixes) and Gibbs at 66 not out ( 7 fours, 2 sixes) in 58 balls. An unbroken second-wicket partnership of 167 runs.19th over: Mumbai 174 for 1. Good last over by Lee. After conceding 40 in his first three, he limits the damage to just four in his last six balls.18th over: Mumbai 170 for 1. Narine's last over and Gibbs hurts his figures with a four over extra cover and a swept six. Gambhir, though, will still take those figures of 4-0-28-0 by the West Indian amid this massacre by Rohit Sharma.17th over: Mumbai 156 for 1. Rohit completes stunning century, off just 52 balls. Lee seems to have run out of options as Rohit sends him to the cleaners with a six and two fours, followed by a single to bring up his century. Gibbs too brings up his half-century in 48 balls. 16th over: Mumbai 139 for 1. Narine is the only bowler who seems to have some answers to Rohit and Gibbs' aggression, as the latter approaches his half-century.15th over: Mumbai 132 for 1. Rohit brings up his 100 partnership with Gibbs with that help-yourself four over the short fine-leg fielder. But that was just the beginning. A dot next ball is followed by a storm that yielded 4, 6, 4, 1 to make it 19 runs off the over. Rohit on 79 off 43.14th over: Mumbai 113 for 1. Narine has just displayed why he is the best KKR bowler. After keeping Gibbs guessing for five balls, he concedes just a couple off the last ball even when both the Mumbai batsmen are looking to hit the ball long and hard. Superb stuff!13th over: Mumbai 111 for 1. Shakib comes back to complete his quota. He does well to not concede any boundaries in his last six balls and end his spell with figures of 4-0-27-1.12th Over: Mumbai 104 for 1. Ten runs in that over make it 35 in the last three for Mumbai. This time Gibbs runs into Bhatia to hit his first six of the innings, over the bowler's head.11th over: Mumbai 94 for 1. Fifty for Rohit Sharma. He has decided to use the long handle and Kallis stands bemused as a result. After a four past Kallis off his first ball, Rohit spanks him over mid-wicket for a six, followed by four to fine-leg to bring up his half-century in just 29 balls.10th over: Mumbai 76 for 1. Kolkata are doing well to cut down on overs conceding runs in double digits. Other than that full-toss by Bhatia, which Rohit hits straight over him for a four, it's another decent over for Kolkata. Both Mumbai batsmen nearing fifties though, Rohit 38 and Gibbs 35.9th over: Mumbai 69 for 1. Rohit breaks the shackles first ball after the strategic time-out. Kallis bowls it outside off and Rohit cuts it backward of point, and the timing gives the third-man fielder no chance whatsoever.8th over: Mumbai 60 for 1. Rajat Bhatia's medium-pace isn't coming onto the bat, indicating that it's difficult to hit through the line once the ball gets a bit soft. But Mumbai seem ready to bide their team before exploding with wickets in hand. 7th over: Mumbai 54 for 1. Kallis has come into the attack and makes his presence felt right away with some intelligent bowling. His change of pace doesn't let Rohit and Gibbs off, just five runs off that over.6th over: Mumbai 49 for 1. Last over of Powerplay and Gambhir presses his best bowler Sunil Narine into service. The West Indian responds excellently first up to Rohit but Gibbs slaps a boundary nonchalantly through the mid-wicket to end the over.5th over: Mumbai 43 for 1. After conceding just six in his first two overs, Shakib has been giving the kitchen sink by Rohit in his third. A boundary off a cut, another four through the covers and then a six deep into the stands over mid-wicket.4th over: Mumbai 29 for 1. Mumbai have taken a liking for Lee here. First Rohit pulls the Aussie for a six over deep square leg and then Gibbs' hard slash outside the off-stump takes the edge to end up behind the ropes at third man.3rd over: Mumbai 18 for 1. Sachin out stumped. Shakib tosses it up and Tendulkar stretches to reach the ball, misses the line and lifts his right foot enough for Bisla to remove the stumps in a flash. Big blow for Mumbai!Sachin Tendulkar st â Bisla b Shakib Al Hasan 2 (2)2nd over: Mumbai 13 for no loss. Brett Lee has been entrusted to share the new ball from the other end. And what does Gibbs do? First he pierces the off-side with pinpoint precision, then lifts Lee over extra-cover and finally makes it 12 in the over with another boundary over point to make his intentions transparent. All that with five fielders patrolling the 30-yard circle.1st over: Mumbai 1 for no loss. Interesting battle this. Gibbs opening for Mumbai, with Tendulkar. Gambhir opting to open with left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan. And just a single off the last ball for Gibbs.3.30 p.m.: Mumbai elect to bat. Captain Harbhajan Singh informs his side is going into this match with two changes. Former South Africa opener Herschelle Gibbs gets his first game. Also, Munaf Patel returns in place of RP Singh.
