3:15 p.m. After a marathon 47 days and 70 matches, we have reached this Sunday - the last day of the round-robin phase in the 2012 Indian Premier League. And that one of the four playoff spots is still up for grabs tells you that this has been the IPL's most competitive season.

Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are already through to the playoffs - with this match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Deccan Chargers to decide whether Bangalore or Chennai Super Kings sneak in to join Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Bangalore and Chennai both stand at 17 points before the start of this match. So Bangalore's sole aim will be to win today and put Chennai's outside chance to rest. A win will take Bangalore to 19 points and into the knockout phase, but if they lose, Chennai, who have a better net run rate than Bangalore, will leapfrog their souther neighbours into the fourth spot.

Deccan, who otherwise have had a forgettable campaign, will be motivated with a chance at hand to avoid a last-place finish. Should they beat Bangalore, they will go to the eighth spot with nine points, pushing Pune down to the last spot.
