IPL 6 play-offs: KKR, RCB, KXIP and Hyderabad chase final spot

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore's seven-wicket loss to Kings XI Punjab in Bangalore on Tuesday has confirmed the progression of three teams into the IPL play-offs - Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The three teams are tied on 20 point which leaves three teams chasing the final spot.

Victory over RCB gave Punjab a total of 12 points and they are four behind RCB (16) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (16). Punjab have two matches remaining - against Delhi Daredevils on May 16 and Mumbai on May 18 - from which they can aim to finish on 16 points. Then, they have to hope that RCB lose their last match against CSK on Saturday as well as that Hyderabad lose their remaining two matches.

RCB must beat Chennai to move to 18 points but even that will not assure them a place in the final four. Should Hyderabad beat Rajasthan and Kolkata Knight Riders (they play both matches at home) then RCB and Punjab will be knocked out.

If Punjab win their last two matches and RCB and Hyderabad lose theirs, and KKR win their last two, then three teams will be tied on 16 points. Like Punjab, KKR have to win their last two matches by handsome margins and pray that RCB and Hyderabad keep losing.
