IPL website removes Fair Play Award table with CSK, RR in top three

New Delhi: In further evidence that all is not well within the BCCI and the IPL, the official website of the lucrative Twenty20 league has removed the Fair Play Award table from its home page. While the Fair Play page is still accessible, IPL seems to have removed all links to the page from its official website.

At the time of removal, Chennai Super Kings - embroiled in a potentially fatally damaging controversy involving its CEO and team principal - and Rajasthan Royals - who had three active players arrested last week on allegations of spot-fixing - were two of the top three teams on Fair Play points table, with Pune Warriors being the third team.

The Fair Play Award is given during each season of the IPL to the team with the best record of fair play. The winner of this award is decided on the basis of the points the umpires give to the teams. The IPL website - www.iplt20.com - includes a league table which updates during the tournament.

Even as a cloud of doubt hangs over the franchise, CSK will contest the IPL 6 final against Mumbai Indians on Sunday in Kolkata. Rajasthan were eliminated by Mumbai on Friday night, during the time that CSK CEO and team principal Gurunath Meiyappan, also the son-in-law of BCCI president and India Cements head N Srinivasan, was arrested in Mumbai for his alleged role in betting in the IPL.

Have your say: Has the IPL lost its credibility?
