Jesse Ryder has kept pressure on New Zealand's selectors to re-consider his exile from international cricket by smashing a century from 39 balls for Otago against Ireland in a limited-overs match.
Ryder hasn't been selected for New Zealand since he was involved in a late night drinking session on the eve of the first Test against India in February. He played the most recent of 48 ODIs against India in January.
Head coach Mike Hesson is reluctant to pick Ryder until he is convinced the player's poor disciplinary record is history. But Hesson has spoken to the opener since his return from a successful stint with the English county side Essex.
Ryder's innings on Thursday, which included a half century from 16 balls, may lead to further pressure for his recall.
