Lalit Modi happy with SC ruling on Srinivasan

New Delhi: Former Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi has welcomed the Supreme Court decision to bar N Srinivasan from executing the duties of the board president till the court gave him permission. Modi was expelled by the BCCI on Wednesday for the financial irregularities during his tenure as the commissioner.

Modi tweeted: "Grateful to Supreme Court for stopping the Mafia War lord Srini in his track. The games have begun..." Ironically it was the Supreme Court that let the BCCI go ahead with Wednesday's Special General Meeting that banned Modi for life for indiscipline and financial irregularities.

Earlier on Friday, the SC withheld Srinivasan's election as the board president, until a verdict is announced in the Jagan Reddy case, even if he wins the polls at the AGM that the SC has allowed to go ahead as scheduled on Sunday.

However, Srinivasan was pretty confident of coming clean and said that he will contest elections. He told PTI that the court has not made a single observation that would stop him from seeking an extended one-year term as BCCI president at the end of his regular two-year tenure.
