New Delhi: All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been out of the limited-overs team since July last year, and his place has gone to wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav. But the 29-year-old is trying his best to make a comeback in the team.

In an interview with New Indian Express, Jadeja said that now he is focusing more on batting as MS Dhoni has told him that would be getting batting opportunities in the IPL.

“Mahi bhai told me that I will get batting opportunities in the IPL this year. He said that I have the ability of a proper batsman, and I am not the flash in the pan type of batsman. And I should think like that,” Jadeja said.

Jadeja was retained by the Chennai Super Kings for this year's IPL, along with Dhoni. To this Jadeja said, “It was really encouraging for me. So, I am concentrating more on the batting aspect of my game and trying to get used to playing the anchor role.”

The Saurashtra player recently scored a hundred in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy against Jharkhand, and took his team to a win. Having got the confidence, he wants to keep contributing with the bat. After his innings of 113 he said, "I am focusing more on my batting now. I do not want to be a player who is known for hitting those 20-odd runs. I want to play the anchor role, just like I did today.”

As far as his bowling is concerned, Jadeja has not picked even a single wicket in the tournament. But that doesn't bother him much. Reacting to his bowling-form, Jadeja said,"If I get wickets owing to mistakes of batsmen, I am not satisfied from the inside. If I think I have done the things I wanted to do, like varying the pace, and I am content with that.”
