Mumbai Indians eye comeback win against high-flying Otago Volts

New Delhi: After losing to Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in their opening match, Mumbai Indians face another tricky opponent in Otago Volts in their second Group A game of the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) at Ahmedabad on Monday.

Mumbai hardly had time to ponder over their loss and need to pull up their socks when they meet an in-form Otago, who impressed by winning all their three matches in the Qualifiers to finish top of the standings.

On their march to the CLT20 main draw, they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabd, Faisalabad Wolves and Kandurata Maroons. For Otago, Brendon and Nathan McCullum played a key part in their team's success. If Brendon contributed with the bat, his younger brother Nathan chipped in with the ball.

However, despite being a star-studded side, Mumbai started on a losing note and need to bounce back to stay in contention for the semi-finals in Sachin Tendulkar's last tournament for the Mumbai outfit. The veteran batsman showed some spark with a well-made 15 against Rajasthan, which included three boundaries, but Mumbai would like him to contribute more to the team's cause.

Mumbai would take solace after seeing Rohit Sharma in form and so also Kieron Pollard, who scored an impressive 36-ball ___44 down the order. Bu the IPL6 champions would expect more from their top order, which will alow the middle and lower order to play more freely.

The IPL champions are unlikely to make any change to their eleven after juse one loss,

Though Otago won their qualifying matches comprehensively, they remained heavily dependant on Brendon McCullum, which could be a matter of concern. The New Zealand side have worthy players like Neil Broom and Hamish Rutherford who can be counted when the chips are down, but they need to transform that face from paper to the field.

    Probable XIs:

Mumbai Indians: 1 Dwayne Smith, 2 Sachin Tendulkar, 3 Dinesh Karthik, 4 Rohit Sharma (capt), 5 Ambati Rayudu, 6 Kieron Pollard, 7 Harbhajan Singh, 8 Nathan Coulter-Nile, 9 Rishi Dhawan, 10 Mitchell Johnson, 11 Pragyan Ojha

Otago Volts: 1 Neil Broom, 2 Hamish Rutherford, 3 Brendon McCullum, 4 Ryan ten Doeschate, 5 James Neesham, 6 Nathan McCullum, 7 Derek de Boorder, 8 Michael Bracewell, 9 Sam Wells, 10 Neil Wagner, 11 Nick Beard
