BANGALORE: A nationwide Blood Donation Drive on Friday by HDFC Bank, which saw one of the biggest single-day campaigns ever, it witnessed people turning up in droves to donate blood at 679 centres in 521 locations across the country.The Bank had tied up with Red Cross, major hospitals and blood banks across these locations for The camps were run from 9 am to 5 pm where a large number of people, including bank executives and customers, donated blood.Many from top management were among the first donors on the day.In its fifth year, the campaign is part of the Bankâs overarching social agenda of making a difference to peoplesâ lives. In Bangalore, the blood donation camps were conducted across 20 locations and more than 1200 units of blood was collected. Employees, customers and walk-ins donated blood at various locations.In Bangalore the blood donation camps were held at Indiranagar, Richmond Road, Richmond Circle, Frazer Town, Bommanahalli, Airport Road and J P Nagar. 576 units of blood were collected across the seven locations in Bangalore with over 681 people participating in the drive.Overall from Karnataka 1,263 units of blood was collected from the blood donation camp. The Bank started this initiative in 2007 when over 4,000 volunteers came forward.
