Pakistan declared their first innings on Day 2 at 579/3 with vice-captain Azhar Ali staying unbeaten on 302. Azhar Ali became the fourth Pakistani batsman to score a triple ton in Test matches after Hanif Mohammad, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.

West Indies were at 69/1 at stumps with Kraigg Brathwaite unbeaten on 32 and Darren Bravo unbeaten on 14.
