    Waiting for Obama to resolve Kashmir crisis

    Srinagar: After weeks of protests and the killing of over 100 people in police firing, separatists in Kashmir are hoping that US President Barack Obama will get New Delhi and Islamabad on the talking table to resolve the Kashmir issue.After four months of locking Kashmir intermittently, the Hurriyat is hoping that the Obama team will be able to understand the problem of the Kashmiris.Though the United States have ruled out intervention on Kashmir, the separatists believe that Uncle Sam is nudging the arch-rivals to get back to talking. Separatist hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, under fire for his recent remarks at a Delhi seminar, wants Obama to be tough with New Delhi.Geelani said, “We want to tell him (Obama) that he should move away from traditional stand that India-Pakistan should talk and we will facilitate that but he should openly say that promises of UN resolution should be implemented by New Delhi in letter and spirit.'' Meanwhile, the separatists have urged asked people to intensify the current agitation in Kashmir.
