Mumbai: Into its fifth season, the Indian Premier League has been rife with controversies ranging from molestation allegations to superstar scuffles and now two IPL players have been allegedly been detained from the rave party that was busted by the Mumbai police on Sunday night.
Mumbai police busted a rave party in Juhu area and media reports have suggested that two Indian Premier League players might be among those taken away by the cops for medical test. While one of them is said to be an Indian player, the other is reportedly a South African.
According to sources players who have been detained are Pune Warriors India's cricketers, Wayne Parnell and Rahul Sharma.
According to a TV channel, legspinner Rahul Sharma said that though he was present at the hotel which was raided but he was there only to attend a birthday party. The cops raided the Oakwood hotel at around 8:30 pm and 100 people, mostly foreign national were taken to the Cooper hotel where they gave their blood and urine samples which would determine the kind of drugs which were being consumed.
IPL over the past week have been in limelight more because of controversies than cricket. Earlier on Thursday 27-year-old Royal Challengers Bangalore player Luke Pomersbach allegedly misbehaved with the woman, a US citizen of Indian origin, at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel in New Delhi and was arrested but was granted bail later on.
A day earlier, on Wednesday The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials lodged a police complaint against Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner Shah Rukh Khan for his alleged misbehaviour at the Wankhede Stadium. The superstar was banned from entering the stadium for five years by MCA chief Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday.
And before that Shalabh Srivastava, Mohnish Mishra, TP Sudhindra, Abhinav Bali, Amit Sharma were suspended by BCCI after allegations of spot fixing in IPL and domestic matches.
