Rohit Sharma may sneak into the playing XI at Southampton

India's net sessions ahead of the third Test against England at Southampton have given indications that the visitors might go in with seven batsmen and four specialist bowlers, ESPNCricinfo has reported.

Rohit's inclusion would mean that the slot of the bowling allrounder filled by Stuart Binny has to be vacated to accommodate the Mumbaikar at No. 6, followed by skipper MS Dhoni in the batting order.

Binny, who was not required to bowl in England's second innings at Lord's, has only played the role of a 'breather' for the specialist bowlers - 20 overs in two Tests clearly suggest that. However, he did play a role - with the bat - to help India escape with a draw at Nottingham.

"Just before Ageas Bowl [venue for the third Test], Rohit has been getting long hits in the nets. On Friday, he was the first one to get a net," ESPNCricinfo said.

Fueling Rohit's inclusion could be Bhuvneshwar Kumar's surprise run with the bat, which has seen him score 209 runs in two Tests, including three fifties, besides taking 11 wickets, including a six-wicket haul.

But all that can change on the morning of the Test, depending on what combination MS Dhoni thinks is best to keep India's 1-0 lead secure.
