Sachin Tendulkar tracker: Day 2, Eden Gardens

As Sachin Tendulkar makes his final bow, Cricketnext tracks the key moments of his last 10 days of almost a quarter of a century he has spent in the game.

The first day of his 199th Test played at Kolkata saw the great man do it with the ball, getting his 46th Test wicket to dismiss Shane Shillingford LBW.

Today, on day two, he came out to bat, and that's what this Test had been building up to. Here's how we tracked Sachin on day two of his last 10 days on the field:

    The great man walks in

Offspinner Shane Shillingford got Murali Vijay out stumped for his second wicket of the morning. But it also meant India's No. 4 will walk in next. The roar was deafening - perhaps the first of its kind on an Indian ground at the fall of an Indian wicket. Sachin Tendulkar walks into the Eden Gardens.

First run of the 199th Test

Tino Best had his tail up looking at the incentive in front of him - getting the greatest batsman of the modern era out cheaply in his penultimate game. But Tendulkar was ready. Over No. 21, ball No. 4: Best bowls it short of length; it kicks up and Tendulkar gets up on his toes to push it into the covers for single. The master was up and running.

    Out for 10

Much to the crowd's dismay, Tenndulkar was given out LBW to Shane Shillingford - the man Tendulkar dismissed in the same manner the previous day. So a revenge of sorts for the offspinner, but replays showed umpire Nigel Llong got it wrong.

Tendulkar played for turn, but missed the line. The ball hit his back leg high up and would have gone over the stumps, but the umpire thought otherwise and Tendulkar had to take the long walk back.
