IPL betting: Bookie Shobhan Mehta sent to police custody till July 12

Mumbai: Top bookie Shobhan Mehta, who was arrested in Goa on Friday over the IPL betting scandal, has been sent to police custody till July 12. Mehta was arrested after police discovered his name in diaries recovered from the bookies arrested earlier this year.

Police have confiscated a cell phone from Mehta and want to recover two more cell phones from him. The police are also investigating his links to other bookies in Pakistan.

Police say that they hope to make four more arrests in the case based on information gathered from Mehta.
