    Commentary (South Africa innings)

That concludes a fine competition between bat and ball that was reminiscent of the pre-T20 era. South Africa have dominated their guests so far but Australia have one last chance to avoid a whitewash. The two sides will meet for the final ODI of the 5-match series in Cape Town. Do join at 1700 IST on the 12th of October as we cover all the action then. Until then, cheers and take care!

Kyle Abbott, Man of the Match says that it was a great thing to get an opportunity and come back as hard as that. (On his bowling) He says that it was quite nervy to bowl after a long time but was happy as it paid off for the team. (On all crucial wickets) He states that it is important to get wickets with the new ball and to get those big players out is a big thing. (On the conditions) He adds that it was a bit different and was a real challenge to bowl here.

Victorious South African skipper, Faf du Plessis says that he found it amazing to go up 4-0 in the series. Adds that they placed Australia under pressure and hammered down on them. Is proud the young players stepped up to perform and the execution of their plan was amazing. Elaborates that Kyle Abbott at the front set the tone and Tabraiz Shamsi spun his web of spin and the bowlers were always on the attack and taking wickets. (On Aaron Phangiso) Du Plessis says he bowled really well too, stayed in good areas and came back well after going for a few runs early on. Says that it is good to have three spinners to play with in different conditions. Admits the wicket was a tough one but really good in a different way as batsmen had to work really hard for runs. Informs that they wanted to be positive but it was really hard with the variable bounce. Is very happy with 4-0 against a fantastic side like Australia and credits his team for playing well. Ends by saying that it is back to practise for his side and 5-0 is something great that he looks forward to.

Steven Smith, Australia captain says that they wanted to have a complete performance with bat and ball but couldn't do it. (On their target) He says that the wicket was not that great and 250 could have been a good target. (On their bowling) He opines that they started well but couldn't hold on till the end as the score was too little to defend. Ends by saying that they will play hard to avoid a whitewash.

Earlier in the day, Australia were beset by the pace and spin duo of Kyle Abbott and Tabraiz Shamsi. Abbott picked up four wickets, two of which came early on and immediately put Australia on the back foot. Shamsi looked very comfortable on the slower pitch, with three dismissals to his name. Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Wade put up fifties each but it was not enough as they couldn't find support from the other batsmen. The tourists ended on a paltry total as they could not stem the loss of wickets.

The Aussie bowlers knew they were in for a hard task as they had a rather low total to defend but they impressed with their bowling discipline. Their lines and lengths were tight and they hemmed the batsmen all the way. The pressure got to the fielding side on a few occasions though, and they left chances that could have been converted into valuable wickets. They got off to a great start thanks to Chris Tremain's early double wicket haul but South Africa buckled down and didn't allow many more wickets to fall. Scott Boland bowled very well too, but didn't have any scalps to show for it.

This is a joyous moment for South Africa, whose win takes the scoreline to 4-0 in the ODI series. This time around, it was a low-scoring affair but both sides put in intense effort. South Africa didn't appear to be in trouble for the most part but the credit for that goes to the stand-in skipper, Faf du Plessis. He anchored the majority of the innings, scoring 69 and batting through two fifty-plus run partnerships, the first with JP Duminy and the other with Rilee Rossouw. The Proteas were frustrated by the bowlers but kept on adding runs to the scoreboard while taking care to marshal their wickets.
