    Witness examination in Abhaya case begins

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: R Geetha, former state chief chemical examiner, handed over the work register of the chemical examination of the samples from the body of Sister Abhaya, without any hesitation, deposed M Muhammed Haneef, former  Sub-Inspector, Museum Police Station, before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here on Monday.  The court considered the case against Geetha and M Chitra, chemical analyst at the Chief Chemical Examiner’s Laboratory for allegedly forging Abhaya’s laboratory records of blood and seminal stain by erasing and rewriting at seven places. Muhammed Haneef, the fifth witness and now a CI in NRI Cell, informed the court that the register was kept in a shelf at the Chief Chemical Examiner’s Lab and Geetha gave it on producing the warrant. The court will hear other prominent witnesses, Y Soorya Prasad and K G  Sivadas, both chemical examiners at the Central Forensic Scientific Laboratory, Hyderabad and R K Agarwal, CBI DYSP in the coming days.
