Mumbai: India fast bowler Varun Aaron is facing a further lay-off from international cricket after it was reported that he suffered a recurrence of a back injury. According to the Indian Express, the 22-year-old from Jharkhand could be out of cricket until at least September. âThere was a slight niggle, but I was still good enough to bowl at my best during the IPL," Aaron told the newspaper. "But as soon as I experienced the pain again, I returned to the NCA some five weeks back." Aaron has not played international cricket since December when West Indies toured India for a full series. He was ruled out of Indiaâs tour of Australia before the New Year after suffering a stress reaction in his back which had was diagnosed during the Indore ODI against West Indies. Subsequently he was sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehab. Aaron played eight matches for Delhi Daredevils in IPL 5, but according to the franchiseâs mentor TA Sekar the back injury most likely replayed during the tournament. âHe was 100% fit during the matches he played and he even bowled at 145 kmh-plus in them,â said Sekar. "Ideally the board should have sent him to Australia for treatment in December itself, especially since they had a qualified physio in Evan Speechly with them. The two-month delay really cost him."
