West Indies A crush India A by 125 runs

Kingstown (St Vincent): Left-arm seamer Delorn Johnson and skipper Veeraswamy Permaul wreaked havoc as they helped West Indies A thrash India A by 125 runs to level the three-match 'Test' series 1-1 here on Tuesday.Chasing a target of 220, the visitors were bundled out for a paltry 94 as Johnson (6 for 34) and Permaul (4 for 22) shared the spoils.Such was the domination by the Caribbean duo that the match ended well before lunch on the final day, with India A losing six wickets for 37 runs. Johnson, the 6 feet 7 inches tall pacer, finished with the match figures of 8 for 62, while the left-arm spin of Permaul fetched him 9 for 80.Starting the day at 57 for 4, the visitors needed a solid start from overnight not out batsmen, Rohit Sharma and Manoj Tiwary. Rohit started the day with a lofted boundary, but then got a delivery that didn’t bounce much, and was dismissed for 13. Wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha (0) was adjudged leg before wicket to an arm-ball by Permaul. Rahul Sharma was the next man to be dismissed.Johnson got his maiden five-for in first-class cricket when he softened up Rahul with a well-directed bouncer and followed it up with a full-pitched outswinger that was guided to the wicketkeeper. At 68 for 7, Tiwary ran out of patience as he pushed hard at a Permaul delivery, which was gleefully accepted by Jonathan Carter in the second slip. Akshay Darekar, Shami Ahmed and Ashok Dinda failed to delay the inevitable.Brief Scores: West Indies A 217 & 204; India A 202 & 94 (D Johnson 6/34, V Permaul 4/22)
