New Delhi: Tempers flared again in the ongoing Test series between fierce rivals India and Australia.
Ishant Sharma and Australia opener Matt Renshaw were involved in a heated exchange on the final day of the third Test at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Monday.
Noticing some activity near the sightscreen, Renshaw had pulled out from the batting crease even as Ishant neared the bowling crease. An angry Ishant ended up throwing the ball in his follow through to wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha.
The ball landed away from Renshaw, but the incident led to some verbal exchanges between the Indian speedster and the Australian opener.
Things didn't end there as skipper Virat Kohli and Steven Smith also joined in. It finally took the umpires to sort things out.
Resuming his over, Ishant charged Renshaw with a short-pitched delivery that hit the Australian's thigh pad and climbed straight up to hit the chin through the gap in the helmet grill.
Finally, Ishant had the last laugh as he trapped the left-hander in front of the stumps.
