Young SA cricketers to train in Bangalore

Mumbai: Thirteen young and promising South African cricketers will undergo a nine-day high-level training camp in Bangalore this month under former Karnataka left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi and another coach, Umesh Patwal.

The contingent comprises six batsmen, as many spinners and one fast bowler. They will be accompanied by former South Africa left arm spinner Nicky Boje, Cricket South Africa media release said on Monday.

The aim of the camp is to ensure that this bunch of talented players are exposed to different playing conditions as well as giving them vital experience as part of their career development and growth, the release added.

Corrie Van Zyl, CSA's General Manager, believes that this opportunity is crucial for the players at this stage of their careers. "We have selected the most talented young spin bowlers and Black African batsmen for this camp," Van Zyl said.

"We identified some of the most talented Black African batsmen in an attempt to further develop their skill set. We want to develop their skill of playing spin bowling on spin friendly wickets which will stand them in good stead for the future," he added.
