Yuvraj returns home after cancer treatment

New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh, who was in the USA for cancer treatment, landed in Delhi on Monday. The Indian batsman was received by his mother Shabnam Singh at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.

After his chemotherapy session in Boston and Indianapolis, the left-handed batsman had traveled to London. He came from London after spending some days to recuperate from the after-effects of the chemotherapy.

After reaching his home in Gurgaon, Yuvraj's mother Shabnam spoke to waiting reporters but Yuvraj restricted himself to just waving from the balcony.

"I am very very happy that he is back. It was an innings that he fought alone but with the blessings of the country. He is absolutely fine. It feels like India have won the World Cup again," his mother said.

"I think that the entire nation has been so good and he is so grateful that everyone is there. He does not have to see any doctor before another three months. For now, he will just rest."

"I will cook him some aaloo paranthas and he will be taking rest for another 10-15 days before scheduling anything. He is very positive about the whole thing," she added.

It is believed that Yuvraj is recovering well. On Sunday morning he had tweeted about his return to India, saying, "finally the day has come ! i am going home tomorrow ! cant wait , excited to see my friends and family ..see you india!! mera bharat mahan !"

Yuvraj is not expected to return to cricket before the end of 2012. He was diagnosed with a rare form of germ cell cancer and underwent three sessions of chemotherapy. He discharged from a Boston hospital last month and then went for further treatment to Indiana University's IU Simon Cancer Centre. He is soon expected to announce his future plans and details about treatment received.

During his stay in the hospital, Yuvraj received lot of support from his fans and well-wishers, especially from Lance Armstrong, who urged him to forget the past and live strong. Recently, Sachin Tendulkar, who was in London for his toe check up, met Yuvraj and wished him a speedy recovery. And after his return to Delhi on Monday, Sachin tweeted, "Yuvi - Get well soon. Welcome back home my brother after winning a tough battle with cancer."

Yuvraj missed the entire Australian tour and also the ongoing the IPL 5 due to his ailment.
