    In pics: batsmen to set the IPL-4 ablaze

    • The new season of the IPL is here and so are the players who will rock the cricketing extravaganza with their power hitting. Here is the list of batsmen who will grab the headlines for the coming seven weeks or so.

    • Andrew Symonds: The sturdy player, who was a part of the Deccan Chargers squad till last season, will now rub his shoulders with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Kieron Pollard in the Mumbai Indians’ dug out.     • Kieron Pollard: Just like his new Mumbai Indians teammate, Andrew Symonds, the tall West Indian all-rounder swats the ball to every corner of the ground with equal disdain.     • Yusuf Pathan: He is regarded as the 'IPL king' in many parts of the country as it was this T20 league that made him extremely popular among the masses and opened the national team's door for him. The Baroda batsman is well capable of turning the game on its head. (AP Photo)

    • MS Dhoni: People had started questioning the Chennai skipper's hitting skills, but his 91-run innings in the World Cup final shut everyone's mouth. The Ranchi man has also shown that the more responsibility you give him the better results he will deliver. (Getty Images)

    • Sachin Tendulkar: His name is cherished by millions of cricket fans keep across the world and the master has been carrying the hopes of the cricket frenzy Indian public for the last 22 years. And the World Cup win was the best possible gift his teammates could have given to him. He led Mumbai Indians to the finals in the third season of the IPL and it won't be a surprise if his side goes a step further and finish at the top.     • AB de Villiers: His form with the bat was exemplary during the World Cup but despite his effort South Africa lost to New Zealand in the quarterfinals. The 27-year-old player would like to forget the World Cup disappointment and come out strong in the eight weeks tournament. (Getty Images)

    • Adam Gilchrist: He has done it time and again both for Australia and Deccan chargers until last season. Gilly, as he is popularly known as among his followers, will give a new lease of life to the controversy-ridden Punjab side. (Getty Images)

    • Virender Sehwag: With again at the helm of affairs, the maverick batsman would like to take the IPL by storm with his fierce batting. If he stays at the crease even for the first ten overs, team's score will easily soars over the 100-run mark. (Getty Images)

    • Gautam Gambhir: The bundles of talent that the southpaw carries with him exploded in the World Cup final where he scored a staunch 97. The hottest property during the players' auction (record Rs 11.04 crore) was instantly given the reins of the Kolkata-based team. (AP Photo)

    • Robin Uthappa: He impressed one and all with his performance in the past two seasons of the IPL and fetched a whopping Rs 9.66 crore for his ability to strike the ball hard during January players' auction. He adds more ammunition to the already power-packed Warrior' line up. (Getty Images)

    • Yuvraj Singh: He gave an invaluable contribution to the Indian side during the World Cup winning campaign. The left hander also fetched four man-of-the-match awards for his all-round performance.
