    • Shikhar Dhawan, along with Rohit Sharma, got India off to a blistering start but couldn't convert his knock into a big one.

    • India came back well to restrict the New Zealanders after at one stage they looked like getting above 325.

    • R Ashwin's plucky and equally skillful 65 off 46 balls got India back into the match.

    • Rohit Sharma was the more aggressive of the two Indian openers, but was dismissed for 39 to allow NZ come back and take control.

    • Martin Guptill was involved in a 150-plus partnership with Kane Williamson, and scored a splendid century to push New Zealand to a big total.

    • Ravindra Jadeja kept India's one-day series against New Zealand alive as the tourists took 17 off the final over to tie an epic third match in the series at Eden Park.

    • Kane Williamson, who had scored two fifties in the first two ODIs, went on to complete a hat-trick of half-centuries with his 65.
