The 2016 Paris Motor Show is currently underway and it has witnessed the launch of some of the most exciting models of the year. It included the likes of electric vehicles, concept cars and all-out hyper performance machines. Here are our top 5 picks. Being unable to choose a favourite, the list is in no particular order.
A convertible version of the LaFerrari, the Aperta is a limited edition supercar with the same motorization as the regular LaFerrari. Totalling 963hp with its V12 engine and electric motor, it can accelerate to 100km/h in less than three seconds and reach a maximum speed of 350km/h. Count on spending around two million euros if you want to buy one of these masterpieces, of which less than 500 will be made. Read more here.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce

The Italian carmaker has taken advantage of the Paris Motor Show to present a souped up version of its Giulia sedan. The new high-end Giulia Veloce features all-wheel drive, and two different engine options: 210 hp (diesel) or an all new 280 hp (gasoline). On the occasion of the show, the diesel version is being launched in France where it will command a starting price of 50,200 euros. Read more here.

The French carmaker has transformed its people carrier, turning it into a fully fledged SUV. The new 5008 has notably higher ground clearance but retains all of the modularity of a minivan. The seven seater aims to be a pioneer in a new market segment that is free from competition. With regard to its environmental impact, Peugeot has reduced the 5008's C02 emissions to as little as 115g/km for the gasoline version and 105g/km for the diesel model. The Peugeot 5008 also benefits from the latest iteration of the i-Cockpit with an 8-inch central touch screen for mobile applications a 12.3 digital instrument cluster. The SUV is due to be launched in the spring of 2017.

The new generation C3 takes pride of place at the Citroen stand. A cousin of the Peugeot 208 which is built on the same platform, it draws inspiration from the C4 Cactus and notably features the same Airbump technology, a textured protective plastic finish to protect doors from dents. The new C3 is more than ever customizable, both in terms of its two-tone exterior with a choice of three roof colours, and of its interior which is available in four possible “moods”. It is expected to reach dealers before the end of the 2016 Motor Show and will retail at 12,950 euros.

The 5th generation of the Micra, which has gained 17cm in length and 7.7cm in width, is not only remarkable for its size. The subcompact boasts all the latest Nissan design features including the brand's V-shaped radiator trim, as well as such technical innovations as intelligent brake assist with pedestrian recognition and cruise control. It is also highly customizable, and will be available in as many as 125 style configurations. European sales will begin in March 2017.
