Jaipur Literature Festival 2015: 'The Baththub' explores the idea of experiencing art in a unique format, says Jiten Thukral
Artists Thukral and Tagra had come into the limelight a few years ago, because of the phrase 'BoseDK', which was used in the film 'Delhi Belly'.
Jaipur: What do a German guy trying to rescue his love life, a French ivy league student finding herself in Old Delhi and a Sardar-ji millionaire have in common?
The above three and several other stories are now a part of a new book titled, 'The Bathtub', which is a collection of short stories and corresponding artwork.
Conceptualized by artists Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra, and written by Arjun Puri, 'The Bathtub' features six stories of today's travelers from different countries, accompanied by work of art specially commissioned for the project and exclusively crafted by the contemporary artists.
Artists Thukral and Tagra said about their artwork, "A work of art is incomplete if it doesn't reach the right audience. 'The Baththub' explores the idea of experiencing art in a unique format, at one's comfort. We all live in constant state of longing, the book illustrates a surreal bubble, struggling with stored memories and pumped up with aspirations! With six original lithographs, the project comes together, like a story of babel".
The artists had come into the limelight a few years ago, because of the phrase 'BoseDK', which was used in the film 'Delhi Belly'.
The artists had claimed that the phrase was originally their idea and the title of their first exhibition at Gallery Nature Morte in 2005.
Aamir Khan, the producer of the film, had said that he was not aware of the registered trademark, and had acknowledged that the phrase was their property, adding that he had no claims over it.
Believing that the hospitality industry needs to enhance, adapt and create a new tomorrow which caters to the modern day traveler, hospitality group Bird Group announced the launch of 'The Bathtub' at the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival.
