GoT Season 7 Ep 1: Impactful Dialogues And What They Mean
A still from GoT Season 7 trailer.
This is the moment we have all been waiting for since last summer. Television's most sought-after series Game of Thrones Season 7 is finally here and it turns out that episode 1 titled Dragonstone, has delivered to most of the expectations.

With the opening sequence beginning with Arya Stark slaughtering (read poisoning) as many high ranking Freys as she could gather, taking revenge for the Red Wedding, we know that the upcoming episodes of the penultimate season is going to be bolder and bloodier, with bigger wars and more politics.

Jon Snow gathering an army of Northerners to fight against the army of dead, White Walkers, to Cercei Lannister, the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, unexpectedly inviting Euron Greyjoy of the Iron Islands to forge an alliance to take back what is rightfully 'theirs' to the mother of dragons Daenerys Stormborn landing in Dragonstone and uttering the words 'Shall we begin?', we can expect the upcoming episodes to be filled with war sequences and with blood and death bodies dominating in each scene.

But before we know what the upcoming episodes have in store for us, here's a quick look at some of the dialogues of the first episode of Game of Thrones, Season 7, that are impactful and have a deeper meaning than you may have understood.

Sweet revenge

The episode begins with Walder Frey treating his men (again) for successfully slaughtering the Starks at the Red Wedding. The scene which begins even before the opening credits, is probably put in that order to show it as an extension of the last episode of Season 6, where Arya Stark slits Walder Frey's throat. With the opening sequence gradually unfolding and taking the lives of several Frey men, the viewers in the end of it figure out that Arya is secretly in disguise.

She tells Walder Frey's serving girl, "If they ask what happened tell them the north remembers. Tell them winter came for House Frey." With this, the opening sequence ends and the credits roll out. With the words 'north remembers' occurring in the first sequence itself, we are assuming that the Starks (Sansa, Arya, Brandon and Ned Stark's bastard son Jon) are going to dominate this season and probably a reunion is also on the cards in the future episodes. We have to wait and see what comes next.

Brandon's warning

Soon after the credits, we see the army of the dead, marching towards The Wall. Next we see Meera Reed with Ned Stark's son Brandon Stark at the gates of the Wall. We hear Brandon tell Eddison Tollett that the Night King is coming for all of them. A fierce, bloody war between the living and the dead is what we see coming in the upcoming episodes. Brandon's words are proof that there isn't much time before the army of the dead shows up at their gates.

Sibling rivalry in the offing

Next we see Jon Snow gathering an army in the North to fight the White Walkers. But it's his sister Sansa Stark who disagrees with his decision to forgive the Umbers and Karstarks for betraying the Starks in the last war - the Battle of the Bastards. But things settle down soon between the two. Jon asks the rightful Umber and Karstark heirs to pledge their loyalty to the Starks once again and the matter is resolved. But we see a hint of sibling rivalry beginning to brew with Sansa's strong disagreement with her half-brother.

Flagbearer of gender equality

(Hotstar) (Hotstar)

As Jon Snow proposes that every living person in the North must be apart of the army against the dead, Lyanna Mormont, lady of Bear Island, seconds his thoughts. In her reply to Lord Glover, who disagrees with Jon's proposal of including the women in the bloody war, she says, "I don't plan on knitting by the fire while men fight for me...I might be small, Lord Glover, and I might be a girl, but I am every bit a Northerner as you...I don't need your permission to defend the North. After this fiery exchange of words, in the coming episodes we will certainly get to see the women of the north being a crucial part of the brutal wars lying ahead.

Battle ready

Cersei Lannister, who makes an appearance standing on a large-scale map of the seven kingdoms in King's Landing, is seeing conversing with Jamie Lannister, her brother and father to her children, about how they must proceed to conquer all the kingdoms that have turned on them. A brutal battle and a bloody winter is what war-hungry Cersei Lannister hints at here.

Unstoppable Arya Stark

(Hotstar) (Hotstar)

Meanwhile, Arya Stark is on her way to King's Landing. She meets a group of Lannister soldiers on her way (you will get a glimpse of Ed Sheeran who plays a soldier) and during her conversation with them, she reveals that she will kill the Queen (Cersei Lannister) once she reaches King's Landing. With Arya mastering the art of disguise this seems rather doable for her.

Daenerys-Jon meeting

(Hotstar) (Hotstar)

Meanwhile, Samwell Tarly, who is in Oldtown to study at the Citadel, discovers an old map of Dragonstone. He gets to know that a mountain of dragonglass lay beneath its ground and decides to inform Jon about it.

With this sequence, we are assuming that Jon, who is on the lookout for more such dragonglass which could kill the White Walkers, will show up at the gates of Dragonstone where he will meet the mother of dragon who in the next sequence is seeing stepping foot in Dragonstone- once a stronghold of the Targaryens. In the sequence we also get to see
a glimpse of the Dragon queen's loyal soldier Jorah Mormont, asking Sam if the the Dragon Queen has come yet? He might have a role to play in Daenerys's war to conquer the seven kingdoms.

Beginning of a war

(Hotstar) (Hotstar)

In the last sequence, we see Daenerys Stormborn setting foot in Dragonstone, then taking a quick tour of the site and uttering the words 'Shall we begin?'standing behind the map that Stannis once built to wage a war against the seven kingdoms. By her side is Lord Tyrion - the Hand of the Queen.
