Sushma Swaraj Undergoes Dialysis: 5 Times The Minister Won Us Over With Compassion

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday underwent dialysis after a kidney failure.

The minister who is known for her prompt replies on social media and ensuring help to those in need, tweeted, "I am in AIIMS because of kidney failure. Presently, I am on dialysis. Lord Krishna will bless."

As the news broke, people from across political affiliations as well as her fans and followers took to Twitter to wish the 64-year-old minister a speedy recovery.

An Indian woman in the US who gave birth to a baby girl few days ago, weeks after her husband died of a heart attack. Sushma Swaraj assured her of all possible help and directed the Indian Embassy in Washington to come to her aid. The minister extended help to a son get visa in the US so that he could come to India to attend the last rites of his father. The minister directed the Indian Embassy in Washington to grant visa to Abhai Kaul to attend his father's last rites, despite the mission being closed for two days for Vijaya Dashmi and Moharram.

She also helped a newlywed man unite with his wife who had lost her passport just before the couple were leaving for their honeymoon.

In September, Sushma Swaraj offered to extend the visa of a British couple, who had a baby in May through surrogacy in India and faced the prospect of leaving her in an orphanage as they have not been able to procure a passport for her.

Sushma Swaraj was admitted at AIIMS on Nov 7 for some endocrinological tests.

"Sushmaji is a diabetic because of which her kidney has got affected. She is undergoing dialysis. She is stable now," the AIIMS doctor told IANS. According to him, Sushma Swaraj's sugar level remains high, due to which she is facing severe diabetic problems. Earlier, Sushma Swaraj, 64, was admitted to AIIMS for several weeks in April this year due to chest congestion.
