Social media users demanded that his identity be revealed and that details about him be disclosed.
Finally giving in to people's demand, on October 17, authorities at the Changi airport posted a picture of Minwei and details about him on their verified Facebook page.
The authorities at the airport caption the image with a note which read, "Lee Minwei, 22, is a Corporal in the Auxiliary Police Force at Certis Cisco. Being part of the team that upholds security at Changi Airport is something Minwei is both passionate about and deeply interested in.
"I really enjoy learning more about the security measures at Changi, and keeping others safe. Also, seeing travellers and tourists excited to go on their trips makes me happy too. That's why I always smile more at work, and hopefully it helps brighten up someone else's day."
He agrees that his most interesting experience from working in the airport the past 7 months, is his sudden online popularity, after a Twitter picture of him on duty, went viral.
"There are times when tourists ask me to take photos with them, but I never expected something like this to happen. It was really quite a shock. My friends and family tease me a lot, but I have a feeling my younger brother is slightly jealous. I think my three siblings and I are all attractive in our own way. We took after our parents' good looks – my mother has really beautiful eyes."
"I am single, but not actively looking for a relationship right now because I want to focus on my career. I believe things will happen naturally if it's meant to be, and if the right girl comes along." #FacesofChangi (sic)."
As of filing this story, the Facebook post had over 11,000 shares and more than 36,000 likes.
So, if you are planning a trip to Singapore, remember to meet Minwei who works at Terminal 2 of the Changi airport, as revealed by the authorities on Facebook.
