Under fire from the Opposition on the suspension of Congress MPs, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan drew support from the treasury benches. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar mobilised women NDA MPs who trooped to the Speaker's chamber Monday afternoon in a show of solidarity with the custodian of the House.

"The smartest and the wittiest quips from that meeting have been picked up by others to attack the Opposition. And now they will take credit. That's infringement of copyright," a BJP MP complained in a lighter vein.

Later, a party spokesperson advised the MP who generally avoids studio debates - when out of media glare- never waste a smart quote or a quip. The competition, even within the party is tough, and one has to be ahead of the curve.
