Eight persons were allegedly beaten up and injured by some unidentified persons in a moving train after an argument erupted between them over occupying the seats in neighbouring Meerut district.

Police said the incident occurred on Tuesday in Delhi-Ambala passenger train when Rashid and his family were returning home in Muzaffarnagar district after attending a marriage function from New Delhi.

Some youths boarded the train from Meerut railway station and started beating up Rashid and other family members after the heated argument over occupying the seats, they said.

Police have registered a case against unidentified persons in this connection. The injured have been sent to a local hospital for treatment.
