Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday ordered re-investigation into the Ayesha Meera murder case.

The home department has ordered the constitution of a special investigation team, headed by Deputy Inspector General rank officer. The SIT will include a woman officer and will be supervised by the commissioner of Vijayawada.

Satyam Babu, the main accused in the murder and rape case, was acquitted by the Andhra Pradesh High Court earlier this year.

After growing clamour from different sections against Babu’s acquittal, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured Meera’s family that justice will be done.
