HYDERABAD: A local court on Wednesday directed Neredmet police to register a case against textiles and handlooms minister P Shanker Rao in connection with a land dispute case and investigate into the issue. Meanwhile, police said they did not receive an order copy from the court and will initiate necessary action after they receive the order.
K Venkat Reddy, inspector, Neredmet police said they would initiate necessary action as per court orders. The Green Field Housing Association representatives approached police on September 9 and lodged a complaint alleging that Shanker Rao's brother P Dayanand was allegedly trying to occupy their lands. They further alleged they were misleading the local mandal revenue officer. Earlier, the housing association members sought the state government's intervention into the issue as they had already built homes in the land measuring over 65 acres under Malkajigiri mandal revenue area.
The Green Field residents who reside in a sprawling 62.15 acres land with survey numbers 373, 375, 376, 378, 379 and 386 having approximately 875 plots for which the stamp duty was paid, are protesting against Shanker Rao and his brother Dayanand trying to occupy the land. The association members had also alleged earlier that the minister had used Dayanand's name as a benami to grab the lands.
